The Rewards of Distance Traveled to Attend Mosque

SUMMARY: The farther one travels to attend the mosque, the greater their reward will be.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'The greater the distance from the mosque, the greater the reward'."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ الأَبْعَدُ فَالأَبْعَدُ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from Abu Hurairah speaks of the rewards that come with traveling a great distance to attend mosque. It is said that the further away one travels from their home in order to pray at a mosque, the greater their reward will be. This teaches us that we should make an effort and go out of our way in order to fulfill our religious obligations and duties as Muslims. We should also remember that Allah is always watching us and He will reward us for our efforts no matter how small they may seem.
