QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Sunnah practices even if they seem small or insignificant .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a practice known as dry ablution or tayammum. It was narrated from Hakam and Salamah in Kuhail that they asked Abdullah bin Abi Awfa about it. He said that the Prophet commanded 'Ammar to do like this; he struck the ground with his palms, shook the dust off and wiped his face. He also added that Hakam said "and his hands" while Salamah said "and his elbows". This hadith teaches us that when water is not available for wudu or ghusl, one can perform tayammum instead which involves striking the ground with one's palms, shaking off any dust on them and then wiping one's face as well as their hands or elbows depending on what is narrated from different sources. It also shows us how important it is to follow sunnah practices even if they seem small or insignificant because these are commands of Allah's Messenger ﷺ which must be followed for our own benefit in this life and hereafter.
