Performing Dry Ablution

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad commanded Muslims to perform dry ablution by striking the dust with their palms and wiping their faces and hands.

It was narrated from 'Ammar bin Yasir that: When they did dry ablution with the Messenger of Allah, he commanded the Muslims to strike the dust with the palms of their hands, and they did not pick up any dust. Then they wiped their faces once, then they struck the dust with their palms once again and wiped their hands.

EXPLANATIONS:
Tayammum, or dry ablution, is a form of ritual purification in Islam that can be performed when water is not available. This hadith explains how to perform tayammum correctly. According to the hadith, Muslims should strike the dust with their palms and then wipe their faces once and then strike the dust again before wiping their hands. This process should be repeated if necessary until one feels clean. The Prophet Muhammad taught this method of performing tayammum as an alternative to using water for ritual purification when it was not available or accessible. This hadith emphasizes the importance of cleanliness in Islam as well as its flexibility in accommodating different circumstances that may arise during worship or other activities related to faith.
