The Reward of Reciting the Shahada

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that if one performs ablution and recites the shahada three times, they will be rewarded with entrance into Paradise.

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that : The Prophet said: "Whoever performs ablution and does it well, then says three times: 'Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasuluhu (I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger),' eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him; whichever one he wants he may enter". (Da'if) Another chain with similar wording.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that if one performs ablution and recites the shahada three times, they will be rewarded with entrance into Paradise. The shahada is a declaration of faith in Islam which states “I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger”. Performing wudu or ablution is an important part of Islamic prayer which involves washing certain parts of the body in a specific order. If someone does this properly and then says the shahada three times, it is said that eight gates to paradise will open for them so they can enter whichever one they choose. This hadith teaches us about how important it is to perform our religious duties properly as we can receive great rewards from Allah for doing so.
