The Beloved of the Prophet

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had a special love for his daughter Fatimah and his cousin Ali.

Narrated Buraidah: "The most beloved of women to the Messenger of Allah was Fatimah and from the men was 'Ali".
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ الأَحْمَرِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ كَانَ أَحَبَّ النِّسَاءِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فَاطِمَةُ وَمِنَ الرِّجَالِ عَلِيٌّ ‏.‏ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ يَعْنِي مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ

This hadith speaks to the special love that the Prophet Muhammad had for his daughter Fatimah and his cousin Ali. It is narrated by Buraidah who was one of the companions of the prophet. It also shows us how important it is to have strong relationships with our family members as this was something that was very important to the prophet himself.
