Visiting Without Riding

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) visited Jabir bin Abdullah and was not riding a mule or a Birdhawn.

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: "The Messenger of Allah came to me, not riding a mule nor a Birdhawn (a type of Turkish horse)".
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ جَاءَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ لَيْسَ بِرَاكِبِ بَغْلٍ وَلاَ بِرْذَوْنَ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's visit to Jabir bin Abdullah. He did not ride a mule or a type of Turkish horse called Birdhawn when he visited him. This hadith teaches us that we should be humble and modest in our travels and visits. We should not show off by riding expensive horses or animals when visiting people as it can make them feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. It also teaches us to be content with what we have and not try to show off our wealth by buying expensive things like horses for travel purposes. We should also remember that the Prophet Muhammad was an example of humility and modesty in all his actions so we should strive to follow his example in our own lives too.
