Seeking Refuge from Evil of Darkened Moon

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) advised Aishah to seek refuge with Allah from the evil of the moon when it darkens.

Aishah narrated: "The Prophet looked at the moon and he said: 'O Aishah! Do you seek refuge with Allah from the evil of this? For indeed this is Al-Ghasiqu Idha Waqab (The darkened one as it darkens).’"
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْعَقَدِيُّ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ نَظَرَ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ يَا عَائِشَةُ اسْتَعِيذِي بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّ هَذَا فَإِنَّ هَذَا الْغَاسِقُ إِذَا وَقَبَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about seeking refuge with Allah from the evil of a darkened moon. It was narrated by Aishah, who was a wife of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) looked at the moon and asked his wife Aishah if she seeks refuge with Allah from its evil. He then explained that this is Al-Ghasiqu Idha Waqab which means ‘The darkened one as it darkens’. This hadith teaches us that we should always seek protection and guidance from Allah in all matters and situations in life. We should also remember to be mindful of our actions and words so that we can stay away from any kind of harm or danger.
