Jami at-Tirmidhi 2942 (Book 46, Hadith 16) #28590
Mindfulness of the Qur'an

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ warned against forgetting the Qur'an and encouraged people to be mindful of it.

Narrated 'Abdullah: that the Prophet said: "How horrible it is for one of them - or - one of you to say: "I have forgotten such and such Ayah,' rather he was made to forget. So be mindful of the Qur'an, for - by the One in Whose Hand is my soul - it escapes from men's hearts faster than a camel from its fetter".

He then encourages people to be mindful of the Qur'an, as it can escape from their hearts faster than a camel can escape its fetter. This hadith emphasizes how important it is for Muslims to remember and recite verses from the Quran, as well as how quickly one can forget them if not careful. It also serves as an encouragement for Muslims to keep up with their recitation and memorization of verses in order to stay connected with Allah's words.
