The Virtue of Charity Over Wealth

SUMMARY: The Prophet (s.a.w) taught that it is better to give charity than to keep a pot of gold uncovered.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet(s.a.w) said similar to it, except that he said,: "uncover a pot of gold".

QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity generously according to one's ability; Use one's wealth responsibly; Help those who are less fortunate than oneself; Share one's blessings with others .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of giving charity over keeping wealth uncovered. It is narrated by Abu Hurairah, who was one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). He said that the Prophet taught that it is better to give charity than to keep a pot of gold uncovered, which means that it is more beneficial for us if we use our wealth in helping others rather than just keeping it for ourselves and not using it at all. This hadith also teaches us about the virtue and importance of giving charity, as well as how we should use our wealth in a responsible manner and not just hoard it away without any purpose or benefit from it whatsoever.

The act of giving charity has many benefits both spiritually and materially; spiritually because when we give out from what Allah has given us, He will reward us with His blessings and mercy; materially because when we help those who are less fortunate than ourselves, they will be able to make use their resources more efficiently which can lead them towards a better life overall. Therefore this hadith encourages us to be generous with our wealth so that everyone can benefit from its blessings together instead of hoarding them away for ourselves alone without any purpose or benefit whatsoever from them in return.
