Jami at-Tirmidhi 2465 (Book 37, Hadith 51) #28100
Prioritizing the Hereafter Over Worldly Matters

SUMMARY: The hadith emphasizes the importance of prioritizing the Hereafter over worldly matters, as Allah will provide for those who make it their goal and will not provide for those who prioritize worldly matters.

Anas bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever makes the Hereafter his goal, Allah makes his heart rich, and organizes his affairs, and the world comes to him whether it wants to or not. And whoever makes the world his goal, Allah puts his poverty right before his eyes, and disorganizes his affairs, and the world does not come to him, except what has been decreed for him".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of prioritizing our goals in life. The Messenger of Allah is telling us that if we make our goal to be focused on the Hereafter and pleasing Allah through good deeds and worship then Allah will make our hearts rich with faith and understanding. He will also organize our affairs so that we can achieve success in this world without having to worry about it too much. On the other hand, if we focus on worldly matters such as wealth or fame then Allah will put poverty before us and disorganize our affairs so that even if we do get some success in this world it won't be enough to satisfy us. Furthermore, whatever has been decreed for us by Allah is what we shall receive regardless of whether or not we prioritize worldly matters over spiritual ones. Therefore, this hadith teaches us to prioritize spiritual goals over material ones as only then can one truly find true satisfaction in life.
