The Consequences of Delaying Good Deeds

SUMMARY: This hadith encourages people to do good deeds and warns them against the consequences of delaying such actions.

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "Race to do works against seven. Are you waiting but for overwhelming poverty, or distracting richness, or debilitating illness, or babbling senility, or sudden death, or the Dajjal, so that hidden evil is what is awaited, or the Hour? The Hour is more calamitous and more bitter". (Daif)

Do righteous acts without delay or procrastination .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is a reminder from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to race towards doing good deeds before it is too late. He warned us against seven things that could prevent us from doing so; overwhelming poverty, distracting riches, debilitating illness, babbling senility, sudden death or the coming of the Dajjal and finally the Day of Judgement which will be more calamitous and bitter than all else. We should not wait for any of these things to happen before we start doing good deeds as it might be too late by then. We should strive to do as much good as possible in our lives while we still have time and energy for it.
