Guidance Through Dreams

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) informs his followers that Prophethood and Messengership have ended, but they will still receive guidance through their dreams.

Anas bin Malik narrated: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'Indeed Messenger-ship and Prophethood have been terminated, so there shall be no Messenger after me, nor a Prophet'." He(Anas) said:"The people were concerned about that, so he (s.a.w) said: 'But there will be Mubash-shirat'. So they said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What is Mubash-shirat?' He said: 'The Muslim's dreams, for it is a portion of the portions of Prophethood'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Be open towards divine guidance, Pay attention to one's dreams

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad is informing his followers that the time of Messengership and Prophethood has come to an end. He then explains that they will still receive guidance from Allah through their dreams, which is a portion of the portions of prophethood. This means that even though there are no more prophets or messengers after him, Allah will still provide guidance to His people in other ways such as through dreams. This hadith teaches us to be open to receiving divine guidance from Allah in whatever form it may come in and not limit ourselves only to what we can see or hear with our physical senses. It also reminds us of the importance of paying attention to our dreams as they may contain messages from Allah for us about how we should live our lives according to His teachings.
