Sahih al-Bukhari 2904 (Book 56, Hadith 118) #2778
Spending in the Cause of Allah

SUMMARY: The properties of Bani An-Nadir which Allah had transferred to His Apostle as Fai Booty were used by the Prophet (ﷺ) to provide for his family and spend on arms and horses for the cause of Allah.

Narrated 'Umar: The properties of Bani An-Nadir which Allah had transferred to His Apostle as Fai Booty were not gained by the Muslims with their horses and camels. The properties therefore, belonged especially to Allah's Messenger who used to give his family their yearly expenditure and spend what remained thereof on arms and horses to be used in Allah's Cause.

QUICK LESSONS:
Spend wisely in the cause of Allah
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about how the properties that were given to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as Fai Booty were not gained by Muslims with their horses and camels. Instead, these properties belonged especially to Allah's Messenger ﷺ who used them to provide for his family their yearly expenditure and spend what remained thereof on arms and horses to be used in Allah's Cause. This teaches us that we should use our resources wisely, providing for our families first before spending it on other causes. We should also strive towards spending in the cause of Allah, whether it is through donating money or helping others in need.
