Jami at-Tirmidhi 1432 (Book 17, Hadith 12) #27015
The Obligation of Following Allah's Teachings

SUMMARY: This hadith explains the importance of following the teachings of Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as revealed in the Quran, even if it is not popular or accepted by society.

'Umar bin Al-Khattab said: "Verily Allah sent Muhammad with the truth, and he revealed the Book to him. Among what was revealed to him was the Ayah of stoning. So the Messenger of Allah stoned, and we stoned after him. I fear that time will pass over the people such that someone will say 'We do not see stoning in the Book of Allah'. They will be misguided by leaving an obligation which Allah revealed. Indeed stoning is the retribution for the adulterer if he was married and the evidence has been established, or due to pregnancy, or confession".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that Allah sent Prophet Muhammad with truth and revealed to him a verse about stoning adulterers. The Prophet then practiced this teaching, and his followers followed suit. 'Umar bin Al-Khattab feared that people would eventually forget this obligation due to time passing by, leading them astray from an obligation which was revealed by Allah. He further explained that stoning is a punishment for adulterers if they are married and there is evidence or if they confess or are pregnant. Therefore, it is important for Muslims to follow all teachings of Allah as revealed in the Quran even if it may not be popular or accepted by society at large.
