The Prophet's Prayer Habits

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (S) would pray long into the night, both standing and sitting, and he would bow and prostrate while reciting.

Abdullah bun Shaqiq narrated from Aishah, he said: "I asked her about the voluntary Salat of Allah's Messenger (S), she said: 'He would pray long into the night standing, and long into the night sitting. So when he recited and he was standing, he would bow and prostrate whole he was standing, and when he recited while he was sitting, he bowed and prostrated while he was sitting'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prayer habits of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He was known to pray for long periods of time, both standing up and sitting down. When he was reciting the Quran while standing up, he would bow down and prostrate himself during his prayers. Similarly when he was reciting while sitting down, he would also bow down and prostrate himself during his prayers. This hadith teaches us that we should be devoted to our prayers as much as possible by taking our time with them instead of rushing through them quickly without giving it our full attention or devotion. It also teaches us that we should be mindful of how we are praying by bowing down or prostrating ourselves when necessary during our prayers so that we can get closer to Allah SWT through them.
