Jami at-Tirmidhi 72 (Book 1, Hadith 72) #25637
Punishment for Apostasy

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sent some camels to a group of people from Uraina as charity, but they killed the camel driver and drove off the camels. As punishment, the Prophet cut off their hands and feet on opposite sides, branded their eyes and threw them in Al-Harrah.

Anas narrated: "Some people from Uraina arrived in Al-Madinah, and they were uncomfortable (and ill from the climate). So Allah's Messenger sent them some camels from charity. He told them: "Drink from their milk and urine". So they killed the camel driver that Allah's Messenger sent, and they violently drove off the camels, and apostatized from Islam. So the Prophet came to them, he cut off their hands and feet on opposite side, and branded their eyes, and threw them in Al-Harrah". Anas said, "So I saw one of them working over the ground with his mouth, until they died".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be Grateful For All Gifts Given To Us No Matter How Small Or Insignificant It May Seem At First Glance As It Could Be A Blessing From Allah Himself .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a group of people from Uraina who were given charity by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The charity was in form of camels whose milk and urine was to be consumed by them. However, instead of accepting this gift with gratitude, they killed the camel driver that was sent with it and drove away the camels. As punishment for their apostasy from Islam, Allah's Messenger cut off their hands and feet on opposite sides, branded their eyes and threw them in Al-Harrah. Anas said he saw one of them working over the ground with his mouth until they died. This hadith teaches us that we should never take Allah's mercy for granted or else we will face severe consequences for our actions. It also teaches us to be grateful for all gifts given to us no matter how small or insignificant it may seem at first glance as it could be a blessing from Allah Himself.
