Sprinkling Water on a Child

SUMMARY: The Prophet sprinkled water over a child who had urinated.

Umm Qais bin Mihsan narrated: "I entered upon the Prophet with a son of mine who was not yet eating food. He urinated on him, so he called for water which he sprinkled over it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be kind and gentle with children; show respect for them; remember that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet sprinkling water over a child who had urinated. It is narrated by Umm Qais bin Mihsan, who was one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This incident shows us that even small children were respected and cared for by the Prophet ﷺ, and that he was very gentle with them. He showed kindness to this young child by sprinkling water over him after he had urinated, which would have been more comfortable than simply wiping it away with cloth or paper. This teaches us to be kind and gentle with children, as they are innocent and deserve our love and care. We should also remember that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life, just like how sprinkling water made this young child feel better after his accident!
