Treating Female Children with Respect

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that if one does not bury their female child alive, slight her, or prefer their male children to her, Allah will bring them into Paradise.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet said: If anyone has a female child, and does not bury her alive, or slight her, or prefer his children (ie the male ones) to her, Allah will bring him into Paradise. Uthman did not mention "male children".

QUICK LESSONS:
Treat your female child with respect and kindness; Do not bury your female child alive; Do not slight your female child; Do not prefer your male children over your female ones; Reward good deeds in this life by Allah in the afterlife.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of treating our female children with respect and kindness. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that if a person does not bury their female child alive, slight her, or prefer their male children to her then Allah will bring them into Paradise. Uthman did not mention "male children" in this hadith which implies that the same applies for both genders. This hadith is a reminder for us to treat all of our children equally and with respect regardless of gender. We should also remember that Allah rewards those who are kind and respectful towards others and He will reward us in the afterlife if we do good deeds in this life.
