Washing Before Sleeping

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) got up at night, fulfilled his need and washed his face and hands before sleeping.

Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) got up at night, fulfilled his need and washed his face and hand and then slept. Abu Dawud said: that is to say, he urinated
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ نَامَ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ يَعْنِي بَالَ

This hadith narrated by Ibn 'Abbas highlights the importance of cleanliness in Islam. It is reported that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ got up at night to fulfill his needs, then washed his face and hands before going back to sleep. This shows us that even when we are tired or sleepy, it is important to maintain our hygiene and cleanliness. We should always strive to keep ourselves clean as this is a sign of faithfulness in Islam. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about the importance of taking care of our bodies and keeping them healthy by washing away any dirt or germs that may be present on our skin after fulfilling our needs.
