The Power of Praying at Night

SUMMARY: If a Muslim remembers Allah and asks for good in this world and the Hereafter, Allah will surely grant it to them.

Narrated Mu'adh ibn Jabal: The Prophet said: If a Muslim sleeps while remembering Allah, in the state of purification, is alarmed while asleep at night, and asks Allah for good in this world and in the Hereafter. He surely gives it to him. Thabit al-Bunani said: Abu Zabyah came to visit us and he transmitted this tradition to us from Mu'adh ibn Jabal from the Prophet . Thabit said: So and so said: I tried my best to utter these (prayers) when I got up, but I could not do.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the power of prayer at night. It is narrated by Mu’adh ibn Jabal that Prophet Muhammad said that if a Muslim sleeps while remembering Allah, in a state of purification, and asks for good in this world and the Hereafter, then Allah will surely give it to him. This hadith encourages us to remember Allah before going to sleep as well as make supplications for our worldly needs as well as our spiritual needs. It also teaches us that we should be hopeful when asking from God because He is All-Powerful and All-Knowing; He knows what is best for us even if we don’t know ourselves.
