Sunan Abi Dawud 4671 (Book 42, Hadith 76) #24962
Respect for Prophets

SUMMARY: The hadith is about a Muslim man slapping a Jew for saying something disrespectful about Prophet Moses, and the Prophet's response to it.

'Abu Hurairah said : A man from among the Jews said : By him who chose Moses above the universe. So a Muslim raised his hand and slapped the Jew on his face. The Jew went to the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) and informed him. The Prophet (May peace be upon him) said: Do not make me superior to Moses, for mankind (on the Day of Resurrection) will swoon and I will be the know whether he was among those who swooned and had recovered before me, or he was among those of whom Allah had made an exception. Abu Dawud said : The tradition of Ibn yahya is more perfect.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect towards all prophets regardless of their religion or culture; Do not make comparisons between prophets; Be tolerant towards others' beliefs; Have humility when talking about religious figures; Understand different religions and cultures .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about respecting prophets and not making any comparisons between them. It tells us that we should not be disrespectful towards any prophet, no matter what religion they belong to. A Jew made a comment comparing Prophet Moses with the universe, which was seen as disrespectful by a Muslim man who then slapped him in response. The Prophet Muhammad then responded by saying that he should not be compared to Moses because on the Day of Resurrection everyone will swoon and he will not know if the person who said this was among those who recovered before him or among those whom Allah has made an exception from swooning. This hadith teaches us that we should respect all prophets and never make comparisons between them as it can lead to disrespecting them in some way or another.
