QUICK LESSONS:
Use wisdom and restraint in such situations; Seek help from those around us if necessary; Protect yourself from intentional harm.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about how one should respond when faced with intentional harm. It is narrated by Sa'd ibn AbuWaqqas and Yazid ibn Khalid, who both recount a conversation between the Prophet Muhammad and Sa'd. In this conversation, Sa'd asked what he should do if someone entered his house intending to kill him. The Prophet Muhammad replied that he should be like the two sons of Adam, referring to a verse in the Quran which states “If thou dost stretch they hand against me to slay me” [ 5:28 ]. This verse teaches us that we must protect ourselves from intentional harm, but also not take any action which would cause further harm or violence. We must use wisdom and restraint in such situations, as well as seek help from those around us if necessary.
