Be honest when making agreements, Keep your word when making promises or contracts

This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's journey to Syria with his companions. They paid in advance for wheat and olive oil using a salam contract, which is an agreement where one party pays money upfront for goods that will be delivered at a later date. The Prophet did not ask the Nabateans of Syria who had these things in their possession before entering into this agreement. This teaches us that it is important to be honest when making agreements, even if we are not sure who has ownership of something or what its true value may be. We should also strive to keep our word when making promises or contracts, as this was something that was very important to the Prophet Muhammad himself.
