Decorating with Pictures Forbidden

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) tore a curtain decorated with pictures of animals and it was turned into two cushions for him to sit on.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic teachings & values even when at home or in private spaces

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's disapproval of decorating with pictures. Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, hung a curtain decorated with pictures on a cupboard in their home. Upon seeing this, the Prophet tore down the curtain and it was turned into two cushions for him to sit on instead. This hadith teaches us that decorating our homes or any other place with pictures is not allowed in Islam as it goes against its teachings and values. It also shows us how much respect we should have for our beloved prophet by following his example and teachings even when we are at home or in private spaces. We should strive to make sure that our homes are free from anything that goes against Islamic values so that we can be closer to Allah SWT and His Messenger SAWS.
