The Prohibition of Selling Unripe Fruits

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade the sale of fruits until they were in good condition, for both the seller and buyer.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: The Messenger of Allah forbade the sale of fruits till they were clearly in good condition, forbidding it both to the seller and to the buyer.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الثِّمَارِ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ صَلاَحُهَا نَهَى الْبَائِعَ وَالْمُشْتَرِيَ

This hadith is about the prohibition of selling unripe fruits. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Umar that the Messenger of Allah forbade this practice, for both sellers and buyers. This hadith teaches us to be honest in our dealings with others, as well as to ensure that we are not taking advantage of someone else's ignorance or lack of knowledge. We should always strive to be fair and just when dealing with others, especially when it comes to business transactions. Furthermore, this hadith also encourages us to be mindful about what we consume; if something looks suspicious or unappetizing then it is best not to buy it or consume it at all.
