Respect for Angels

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) refused to ride on an animal while accompanying a funeral procession, out of respect for the angels who were walking alongside.

Narrated Thawban: An animal was brought to the Messenger of Allah while he was going with a funeral. He refused to ride on it. When the funeral was away, the animal was brought to him and he rode on it. He was asked about it. He said: The angels were on their feet. I was not to ride while they were walking. When they went away, I rode.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show utmost respect and reverence towards those around you even if they are unseen or not present in front of you .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's respect and reverence for angels. When he was accompanying a funeral procession, he refused to ride on an animal out of respect for the angels who were walking alongside. He showed that even though they are unseen, we should still show them our utmost respect and reverence. After the funeral procession had gone away, he then rode on the animal as it was no longer disrespectful to do so. This teaches us that we should always show respect and reverence towards those around us, even if they are unseen or not present in front of us. We should also be mindful of our actions and how they may affect others around us or those who may be watching from afar.
