EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that some verses of the Quran can be abrogated or replaced by other verses. This means that a certain verse may not be applicable anymore due to a new revelation from Allah. In this case, Ibn 'Abbas explains that the first verse “Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day ask thee for no exemption from fighting with their goods and persons” was replaced by another one which states “Only those are believers who believe in Allah and His Apostle”. This shows us how important it is to follow what is revealed to us through Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as it may contain new instructions or changes to previous ones.

The teachings of this hadith remind us of our duty as Muslims to always stay up-to-date with what has been revealed through Prophet Muhammad ﷺ so we can act accordingly. We should also remember that any changes made are only done so out of mercy from Allah towards his people, as He knows best what will benefit them most.
