Sahih al-Bukhari 2410 (Book 44, Hadith 1) #2305
Unity in Diversity

SUMMARY: Differences in opinion should not be a cause of dispute and division, as it can lead to destruction.

Narrated 'Abdullah: I heard a man reciting a verse (of the Holy Qur'an) but I had heard the Prophet reciting it differently. So, I caught hold of the man by the hand and took him to Allah's Messenger who said, "Both of you are right". Shu'ba, the sub-narrator said, "I think he said to them, "Don't differ, for the nations before you differed and perished (because of their differences)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect others’ opinions, Strive for unity despite differences

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of unity and avoiding disputes. It was narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud who heard a man reciting a verse from the Quran differently than how he had heard Prophet Muhammad recite it. He took the man to Prophet Muhammad who said that both were right, and then warned them not to differ as this could lead to destruction for their nation, just like it did for nations before them. This hadith teaches us that differences in opinion should not be a cause of dispute or division, as this can lead to destruction. We must strive for unity despite our differences and respect each other's opinions even if we don't agree with them.
