QUICK LESSONS:
Observe i'tikafthe during the last ten days of Ramadan

EXPLANATIONS:
I’tikāf is a spiritual retreat that is observed during the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadān. It involves secluding oneself in a mosque or other place for worship and devoting oneself to prayer, reflection, and remembrance of Allah. This hadith narrated by Ubayy ibn Ka'b tells us that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to observe i’tikāf during these days every year. One year he did not do so, but when the next year came around he observed it for twenty nights instead. This shows us how important this practice was to him and how much value he placed on it as an act of devotion towards Allah. It also serves as an example for us to follow in our own lives; we should strive to make time each year for spiritual retreats such as i’tikāf so that we can draw closer to Allah through prayer and reflection.
