Prostrations While Reciting the Qur'an

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught Amr ibn al-'As fifteen prostrations while reciting the Qur'an, including three in al-Mufassal and two in Surah al-Hajj.

Narrated Amr ibn al-'As: The Prophet taught me fifteen prostrations while reciting the Qur'an, including three in al-Mufassal and two in Surah al-Hajj. Abu Dawud said: Abu al-Darda' has reported eleven prostrations from the Prophet , but chain of this tradition is weak.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ بْنِ الْبَرْقِيِّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا نَافِعُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْعُتَقِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُنَيْنٍ، - مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ كُلاَلٍ - عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَقْرَأَهُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ سَجْدَةً فِي الْقُرْآنِ مِنْهَا ثَلاَثٌ فِي الْمُفَصَّلِ وَفِي سُورَةِ الْحَجِّ سَجْدَتَانِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ رُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ سَجْدَةً وَإِسْنَادُهُ وَاهٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prostrating while reciting the Quran. It was narrated by Amr ibn al-'As that Prophet Muhammad taught him fifteen prostrations while reciting the Quran, including three in Al Mufassal and two in Surah Al Hajj. Abu Dawud reported that Abu Al Darda’ has reported eleven prostrations from Prophet Muhammad but this tradition is weak. Prostration or Sujud is an act of worship where a person bows down to Allah with humility and submission to His will. It is a sign of respect for Allah's greatness and power as well as an expression of gratitude for His blessings upon us. By performing Sujud during Quran recitation, we are showing our reverence for Allah's words and expressing our appreciation for His guidance through them. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our actions when reading or listening to the Quran so that we can gain maximum benefit from it by humbling ourselves before Allah with sincere devotion and love.
