Sunnah of Sitting on Heels During Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the sunnah of sitting on heels between two prostrations.

Tawus said: we asked Ibn 'Abbas about sitting on heels between the two prostrations. He said: It is the sunnah. We said: We look upon it as a pressure on the foot. He said: This is the sunnah of your Prophet
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ طَاوُسًا، يَقُولُ قُلْنَا لاِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي الإِقْعَاءِ عَلَى الْقَدَمَيْنِ فِي السُّجُودِ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ هِيَ السُّنَّةُ ‏.‏ قَالَ قُلْنَا إِنَّا لَنَرَاهُ جَفَاءً بِالرَّجُلِ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ هِيَ سُنَّةُ نَبِيِّكَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the sunnah of sitting on heels between two prostrations during prayer. It was narrated by Tawus who asked Ibn 'Abbas about this practice and he said that it is a sunnah. When they expressed their concern that it may be too hard for them, Ibn 'Abbas reassured them that it was the sunnah of their Prophet. This hadith teaches us to follow the teachings and practices of our Prophet without questioning or doubting them even if they seem difficult at first.
