The Prophet's Tahajjud Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) used to recite a prayer after the takbir in his tahajjud prayer.

Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah used to say in his tahajjud prayer(ie supererogatory prayer offered in or after the midnight) after he said the takbir; he then narrated the tradition to the same effect.

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform voluntary night prayers after midnight and before dawn

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Ibn 'Abbas tells us about the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during his tahajjud prayer. Tahajjud is a voluntary night prayer that Muslims perform after midnight and before dawn. It is believed that this time of night is when Allah's blessings are most abundant, so it is an excellent opportunity for Muslims to draw closer to Him through worship and supplication. After saying the takbir, which means "God is great", the Prophet ﷺ would recite a special prayer as part of his tahajjud ritual. This hadith reminds us of how important it is for us to take advantage of this blessed time and make use of it for our spiritual growth and development.
