Sunan Abi Dawud 633 (Book 2, Hadith 243) #20924
Praying with Simplicity

SUMMARY: The hadith is about Jabir b. 'Abd Allah leading a prayer wearing only a single shirt, and witnessing the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) praying in a similar manner.

'Abd al-rahman b. Abu Bakr reported on the authority of his father Jabir b. 'Abd Allah led us in prayer in a single shirt, having no sheet upon him. When he finished the prayer he said: I witnesses the Messenger of Allah praying in a shirt.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray with humility and modesty while focusing on inner piety rather than outward appearances or material possessions .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of simplicity when it comes to prayer and worshiping God. It tells us that even though we may have access to nice clothes or other items, we should not feel obligated to use them for our prayers as long as what we are wearing is modest and appropriate for the occasion. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself was known to pray in simple clothing such as a single shirt, which shows us that it is possible to be humble and pious without having fancy garments or accessories. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us that modesty should be prioritized over extravagance when it comes to religious practices such as prayer; instead of focusing on outward appearances or material possessions, one should focus on their inner piety and devotion towards God instead.
