Know market prices before buying goods; Be honest in your dealings with others; Compare prices from different sellers; Return something with one Sa’a of dates if needed.

This hadith teaches us about the importance of knowing market prices when buying goods. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forbade going to meet the seller on the way as they may not be aware of what is fair and reasonable in terms of pricing. Instead, it is better to buy from a place where there are many sellers so that one can compare prices and get an idea about what is fair. Additionally, if one buys something that has been unsold for a long time, they have an option to return it with one Sa’a of dates as compensation for any inconvenience caused by them. This hadith also teaches us about being honest in our dealings with others and making sure we do not take advantage of someone who does not know better than us.
