How to Perform Ablution According to Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed ablution in the presence of Al-Rubayyi’ daughter of Mu’awwidh and wiped his head from its upper to lower part without moving the hair from their original position.

Al-Rubayyi’ daughter of Mu’awwidh b. 'Afra’ reported: The Messenger of Allah performed ablution in her presence. He wiped the whole of his head from its upper to the lower part moving every side. He did not move the hair from their original position.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ ابْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ تَوَضَّأَ عِنْدَهَا فَمَسَحَ الرَّأْسَ كُلَّهُ مِنْ قَرْنِ الشَّعْرِ كُلَّ نَاحِيَةٍ لِمُنْصَبِّ الشَّعْرِ لاَ يُحَرِّكُ الشَّعْرَ عَنْ هَيْئَتِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how to perform ablution according to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is narrated by Al-Rubayyi’ daughter of Mu'awwidh that she saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performing ablution in her presence. He wiped his whole head from its upper part till lower part without moving any hair from their original position. This hadith teaches us that when performing wudu or ablutions, we should wipe our heads with our hands while not moving any hair from their original positions. It also teaches us that we should follow the teachings and practices of Prophet Muhammad as he was sent by Allah as a role model for all Muslims.
