The Unlawfulness of Intoxicants

SUMMARY: Intoxicants are unlawful and Allah has promised to give those who drink intoxicants a punishment of drinking the mud of Khibal, which is the sweat or juice of the people in Hell.

It was narrated from Jabir that: A man from (the tribe of) Jaishan, who are from Yemen, came and asked the Messenger of Allah SAW about a drink that they drank in his homeland that was made of corn and called Al-Mizr (beer). The Prophet SAW said to him: "Is it an intoxicant?" He said: "Yes". The Messenger of Allah SAW said: "Every intoxicant is unlawful. Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has promised the one who drinks intoxicants that He will give him to drink from the mud of Khibal". They said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the mud of Khibal?" He said: "The sweat of the people of Hell," or he said: "The juice of the people of Hell".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that intoxicants are unlawful according to Allah. A man from Yemen asked the Prophet Muhammad about a drink made from corn called Al-Mizr, which was an intoxicant. The Prophet Muhammad said that every intoxicant is unlawful and Allah has promised to give those who drink it a punishment by making them drink from the mud of Khibal. The mud of Khibal is described as either being the sweat or juice from people in Hell, meaning it will be an extremely unpleasant experience for those who consume it. This hadith teaches us that we should stay away from consuming any type of intoxicant as it is considered sinful and will lead to severe punishment in this life and in the hereafter. We should also strive to stay away from anything else that may be considered sinful according to Islamic teachings so we can live our lives according to what pleases Allah and receive His blessings both now and in eternity.
