QUICK LESSONS:
Abide by laws so as not cause harm or distress upon others through your actions

EXPLANATIONS:
According to this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad used to punish thieves by cutting off their hands if they stole something worth one-quarter of a Dinar or more. This punishment was meant to serve as an example and deterrent for others who might consider stealing. It is important to note that this punishment was only applicable when there were two witnesses present, and it was not applicable in cases where the stolen item was worth less than one-quarter of a Dinar. This hadith also teaches us that theft is considered a serious crime in Islam, and it should be avoided at all costs.

Theft is prohibited in Islam because it goes against the teachings of justice and fairness that are found throughout Islamic teachings. It also goes against the principle of trustworthiness which is highly valued within Islamic society. Furthermore, theft can lead to economic hardship for those who have been wronged by having their possessions taken away from them without permission or consent. Therefore, it is important for Muslims to abide by these laws so as not to cause harm or distress upon others through their actions.
