Sunan an-Nasai 4866 (Book 45, Hadith 161) #19399
Consequences of Killing a Believer Deliberately

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the consequences of killing a believer deliberately and how repentance cannot undo the crime.

It was narrated from Salim bin abi Ja'd that: Ibn 'Abbas was asked about someone who killed a believer deliberately then he repented, believed and did righteous deeds, and followed true guidance. Ibn 'Abbas said: "There is no way he could repent! I heard your Prophet say; He (the victim) will come hanging onto his killer with his jugular veins flowing with blood and saying: "Ask him why he killed me". Then he said: "by Allah, Allah revealed it and never abrogated anything of it.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the consequences of killing a believer deliberately. It was narrated from Salim bin abi Ja'd that Ibn 'Abbas was asked about someone who killed a believer deliberately then he repented, believed and did righteous deeds, and followed true guidance. Ibn 'Abbas said that there is no way he could repent for his crime as it was revealed by Allah and never abrogated anything of it. The Prophet said that the victim will come hanging onto his killer with his jugular veins flowing with blood and saying "Ask him why he killed me". This hadith teaches us that we should not take life lightly as it is sacred in Islam, even if one repents for their actions they will still be held accountable for their sins on judgement day. We should strive to do good deeds in our lives so we can be forgiven by Allah on judgement day.
