Punishment for Intentional Killing of Believers

SUMMARY: A person who kills a believer intentionally cannot repent and will be punished in Hell.

It was narrated that Sa'eed bin Jubair said: "I said to Ibn Abbas '.Can a person who killed a believer intentionally repent?' He said: 'No'. I recited the Verse from Al-Furqan to him: And those who invoke not any other ilah (god) along with Allah, nor kill such person a Allah has forbidden, except but right. He said: 'This Verse was revealed in Makkah and was abrogated by a verse that was revealed in Al-Madinah: And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the punishment for intentional killing of believers. It was narrated by Sa'eed bin Jubair that he asked Ibn Abbas if a person who killed a believer intentionally can repent, to which Ibn Abbas replied no. He then recited the verse from Al-Furqan which states that those who do not invoke any other god besides Allah and do not kill anyone except with right, will be rewarded. Ibn Abbas then said that this verse was revealed in Makkah and was abrogated by another verse revealed in Al-Madinah which states that whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell. This hadith teaches us that intentional killing of believers is an unforgivable sin and one must face severe punishment for it in the hereafter. We should also remember to never take someone's life without right as it is against Islamic teachings and values.
