Payment for Stallions

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad forbade charging stud fees for a stallion, but allowed payment for it.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "A man from Banu As-Sa'q, one of Banu Kilab, came to the Messenger of Allah and asked him about charging stud fees for a stallion. He forbade him to do that, but he said: 'We give payment for that"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be fair and honest in our dealings with others; only ask them to pay what is due without any additional charges or fees; reward those who are just and honest in their dealings with others.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's teachings regarding payment for stallions. A man from the tribe of Banu As-Sa'q asked the Prophet if he could charge stud fees for a stallion and the Prophet forbade him to do so. However, he allowed payment to be given in exchange for it. This hadith teaches us that we should not take advantage of people by charging them extra money or fees when they are buying something from us. Instead, we should be fair and honest in our dealings with others and only ask them to pay what is due to us without any additional charges or fees. We should also remember that Allah will reward those who are just and honest in their dealings with others.
