The Prohibition of Selling Food Before Taking Possession

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to sell food before taking possession of it.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever buys food let him not sell it until he has taken possession of it".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ مَنِ ابْتَاعَ طَعَامًا فَلاَ يَبِعْهُ حَتَّى يَقْبِضَهُ
