The Binding Nature of Transactions

SUMMARY: The two parties to a transaction have the choice to back out of it until they have separated, unless they both choose to conclude the transaction.

It was narrated from Ibn Juraij: "Nafi dictated to me, from Ibn 'Umar who said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'the two parties to a transaction both have the choice so long as they have not separated, unless they have both chosen to conclude the transaction. If they have both chosen to conclude the transaction, then the transactions binding". (Sahih )

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the binding nature of transactions. It is narrated from Ibn Juraij that Nafi dictated to him from Ibn 'Umar who said that the Messenger of Allah said that when two parties are involved in a transaction, they both have a choice until they separate. However, if both parties choose to conclude the transaction then it becomes binding and cannot be reversed. This hadith teaches us about how important it is for us to be careful when entering into any kind of agreement or contract as we must abide by its terms once we agree upon them. It also teaches us about being honest and fair in our dealings with others and not taking advantage of them or trying to manipulate them into something they do not want.
