Forbidden Consumption of Donkey Meat

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade the consumption of donkey meat and riding them.

It was narrated from 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from his father, from his father Muhammad bin 'Abdullah bin 'Amr - or on one occasion he said: from his father, form his grandfather - the on the Day of Khaybar, the Messenger of Allah forbade the flesh of domesticated donkeys and of al-Jallalah (animals that eat dung), and (he forbade) riding them and eating their mat".
أَخْبَرَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَهْلُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ مَرَّةً عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَقَالَ، مَرَّةً عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الأَهْلِيَّةِ وَعَنِ الْجَلاَّلَةِ وَعَنْ رُكُوبِهَا وَعَنْ أَكْلِ لَحْمِهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbidding the consumption of donkey meat and riding them on the Day of Khaybar. Al-Jallalah refers to animals that eat dung, which was also forbidden by the Prophet (PBUH). This hadith teaches us that we should not consume or ride animals that are considered unclean in Islam such as donkeys and al-Jallalah. We should also respect all living creatures as Allah has commanded us to do so in His holy book, The Quran.
