Dividing Spoils of War Equally

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that when animals are acquired as spoils of war, they should be divided equally and if one of them runs away, it should be stopped with an arrow.

It was narrated that Rafi bin Khadij said: "While we were with the Messenger of Allah at Dhul-Hulaifah in Tihamah, they acquired some camels and sheep (as spoils of war). The Messenger of Allah was among the last of the people, and the first of them hastened to slaughter (the animals) and set up pots (For cooking the meat). The Messenger of Allah came and ordered that the pots be came and ordered that the pots be overturned, then he divided it making ten sheep equivalent to one camel. While they were like that, a camel ran away. The people had only a few horses, so they went after fit and it and it got away from them. A man shot an arrow at it and stopped it. The Messenger of Allah said: 'Some of these animals arte untamed like wild animals, so if one of them goes out of your control, do the same".

Follow instructions given by Prophet Muhammad PBUH regarding division .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's teachings on how to divide spoils of war among people. When the Muslims were at Dhul Hulaifah in Tihamah, they acquired some camels and sheep as spoils of war. The Prophet Muhammad was among the last people to arrive and he saw that some people had already started slaughtering the animals and setting up pots for cooking them. He then ordered that all the pots be overturned and divided the animals into equal parts - ten sheep being equivalent to one camel. Suddenly, a camel ran away so a man shot an arrow at it to stop it from running further away. The Prophet then said that these animals are like wild ones so if one runs out of control, it should be stopped with an arrow just like what happened in this situation. This hadith teaches us about fairness when dividing something among many people - each person should get their fair share no matter what kind of item is being shared or distributed amongst them. It also teaches us about taking responsibility for our actions - if something goes wrong or out of control due to our negligence or carelessness, we must take steps to rectify our mistake instead of ignoring it or pretending nothing happened in order for us not to face any consequences from our actions..
