Sunan an-Nasai 4128 (Book 37, Hadith 163) #18661
Reverting to Disbelief and Killing One Another

SUMMARY: No one should be punished for the crime of another, and people should not revert to disbelief or kill each other.

It was narrated that Masruq said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW said: 'I do not want to see you after I am gone reverting to disbelievers, striking the necks of one another (killing one another). No man is punished for the crime of his father, or the crime of his brother'." This is correct.

QUICK LESSONS:
Have faith in Allah & His Messenger; Maintain peace between ourselves & others; Follow Allah's commands .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Masruq states that the Prophet Muhammad [SAW] did not want his followers to revert back to disbelief after he was gone, nor did he want them to kill one another. He also said that no man should be punished for the crime of his father or brother. This hadith teaches us that we must have faith in Allah and His Messenger, and we must not take justice into our own hands by punishing someone for a crime they did not commit. We must also strive to maintain peace between ourselves and our fellow Muslims, as well as with non-Muslims. This hadith is a reminder of how important it is for us to follow Allah's commands in order for us all to live peacefully together on this earth.
