Sunan an-Nasai 3836 (Book 35, Hadith 76) #18451
The Expiation of Vows of Disobedience

SUMMARY: There is no need to make a vow to do something wrong, and the expiation for such a vow is the same as that of an oath.

It was narrated from 'Aishah that the Messenger of Allah said: "There is no vow to commit an act of disobedience, and its expiation is the expiation for an oath".

QUICK LESSONS:
Make no vows involving wrongdoing; seek forgiveness from Allah through atonement when necessary; keep your promises and fulfill your obligations; avoid sinning against God's commands; respect others' rights and property; show kindness towards all people regardless of their faith or background; strive for justice in all matters related to yourself and others around you .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that we should not make any vows or promises to do something wrong or sinful. If we do, then we must atone for it in the same way as if we had made an oath. An oath is when someone makes a promise and swears by Allah that they will keep it. In Islam, if someone breaks their oath then they must pay a penalty known as Kaffarah in order to be forgiven by Allah. Similarly, if someone makes a vow to commit an act of disobedience then they must also pay this penalty in order to be forgiven by Allah. This hadith reminds us that even though making vows can sometimes seem like fun or exciting things, it is important not to make any promises which involve doing something wrong or sinful because there are consequences for breaking them which could lead us away from Allah's mercy and forgiveness.
