Sacrifice in the Cause of Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) wished to be killed in the cause of Allah and was willing to go on campaigns and battles if he had the means to provide mounts for those who would not stay behind.

Abu Hurairah said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'By the One in Whose hand is my soul, were it not for the fact that there are some believing men who would not feel happy to stay behind (when I go out on a campaign) and I do not have the means to provide them with mounts (so that they can join me), I would not have stayed behind from any campaign or battle in the cause of Allah. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I wish that I could be killed in the cause of Allah, then brought back to life, then be killed, then be brought back to life, then be killed then be brought back to life, then be killed'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Stand up for justice and do what is right even if it means sacrificing our lives. Strive towards devotion as Muslims no matter how difficult it may seem at times.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about sacrificing for the cause of Allah. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was willing to go on campaigns and battles if he had enough resources to provide mounts for those who would not stay behind. He expressed his wish that he could be killed in the cause of Allah multiple times, then brought back to life again so that he could continue fighting for what is right. This shows us how much dedication and commitment we should have when it comes to standing up for justice and doing what is right even if it means sacrificing our lives. We should strive towards this level of devotion as Muslims, no matter how difficult it may seem at times.
