Charity in Times of Need

SUMMARY: Prophet Muhammad advised a man to shave his head and give charity to six poor people when he had an infestation of head lice.

It was narrated that Kab bin Ujrah said: "I entered Ihram, then I had a severe infestation of head lice. News of that reached Prophet, and he came to me when I was cooking something in a pot for my companions, he touched my head with his finger and said: 'Go and shave it, and give charity to six poor persians'.".

QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity even if you are going through difficult times yourself; Be generous with your wealth; Help others who are less fortunate than you; Follow the example set by Prophet Muhammad

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of charity and helping those in need. It was narrated by Kab bin Ujrah that he entered Ihram, then he had a severe infestation of head lice. News of that reached Prophet Muhammad, and he came to him when Kab was cooking something in a pot for his companions. The Prophet touched his head with his finger and said “Go and shave it, and give charity to six poor persians”. This teaches us the importance of giving charity even if we are going through difficult times ourselves. It also shows us how much compassion the Prophet had for those who were suffering from poverty or any other kind of hardship. We should follow this example by being generous with our wealth, time, energy, knowledge etc., so that we can help others who are less fortunate than us.
