Sunan an-Nasai 2654 (Book 24, Hadith 36) #17265
Designation of Miqat for Ihram

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad designated certain places as Miqat for people of different regions to enter into Ihram from the place they start their journey.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that: the Messenger of Allah designated Dhul-Hulaifah as the Miqat for the people of Al-Madinah Al-Juhfah for the people of Najd, and yalamlam for the people of Yemen. He said: "They are for them, and for anyone who comes to them from elsewhere. If a person's place of residence is within the boundary of the Miqat, then (he should enter into Ihram) from where he starts his journey, and this also applies to the people of Makkah'.'(Sihah)

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic rituals and traditions when travelling or performing Hajj/Umrah
EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad designated certain places as Miqats for people of different regions to enter into a state called Ihram. Dhul-Hulaifah was the designated place for the people of Al-Madinah and Al-Juhfah while Yalamlam was the designated place for the people of Yemen. For those who live within these boundaries, they should enter into Ihram from where they start their journey. This applies to all including those living in Makkah. This hadith teaches us that it is important to follow Islamic rituals and traditions when travelling or performing Hajj or Umrah. It also teaches us that we should respect and abide by rules set by our religious leaders even if it means making some sacrifices such as changing our travel plans or route due to religious obligations.
