The Evils of Begging

SUMMARY: Begging is bad and should be avoided.

It was narrated from 'A'idh bin 'Amr that: a man came to the prophet and asked him and he gave him, and when he placed his foot on the threshold the Messenger of Allah said: "If you knew how bad begging is, no one would go to anyone else and ask him for anything".

QUICK LESSONS:
Work hard and politely ask those who can help if needed instead of going around asking people for money or other things which may make them feel uncomfortable or embarrassed.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the evils of begging and how it should be avoided. It was narrated by 'A'idh bin 'Amr that a man came to the Prophet and asked him for something. When he placed his foot on the threshold, the Messenger of Allah said “If you knew how bad begging is, no one would go to anyone else and ask him for anything”. This hadith teaches us that we should not beg from others as it is considered a bad thing to do. We should instead try our best to work hard in order to get what we need or want in life without having to rely on others for help. We must also remember that if we are in need of something then asking politely from those who can help us is better than going around asking people for money or other things which may make them feel uncomfortable or embarrassed.
